Off-grid installation

Off-Grid Solar Installation in Nigeria

An off-grid solar system powers a property on its own, independently of the public electricity grid. Kinbu Power designs, supplies and installs standalone systems for homes, farms, workshops and other premises.

What “off-grid” installation means

Off-grid solar installation means designing and installing a standalone solar-power system that can supply a property independently of the public electricity grid. It is a self-contained system for one property — it is not the installation of a public power grid.

Because there is no grid to fall back on, an off-grid system has to be sized carefully: the battery and the solar array must carry your loads through the night and through cloudy days. That is why we start with your load, not with a product.

Who off-grid solar suits

  • Properties with no grid connection, or where connection is not practical
  • Farms, workshops and remote sites
  • Homes and businesses whose grid supply is so unreliable they want to stop depending on it
  • Anyone who wants to remove generator fuel, noise and fumes from daily life

What an off-grid system includes

Every system is designed around the property, but the building blocks are consistent: solar panels to generate, lithium batteries to store, and an inverter to supply your appliances. We can supply these as genuine itel Energy products.

  • Solar panels, mounting and cabling
  • An inverter suited to off-grid operation, sized to your peak load
  • Lithium battery storage sized to your daily energy use and the backup time you need
  • Protection, earthing and a clear layout for safe operation
  • Optionally, a generator input as backup for long periods of poor sun

How we size an off-grid system

We list your appliances with their running and starting power, find your daily energy use and your peak load, and then size the battery bank, the solar array and the inverter to meet them with a margin for poor weather. The more accurate your appliance list, the better the design — our calculators in the Solar Tools hub give you a first estimate to bring to the assessment.

How an installation works

  1. 1

    Site assessment

We look at the property, the roof or mounting space, the electrical supply and where equipment will sit.

  2. 2

    Load calculation

We list what you want to power, its running and starting load, and how many hours you need it.

  3. 3

    System design

From the load figures we size the inverter, battery capacity and solar array, and plan cabling and protection.

  4. 4

    Product recommendation

We recommend the equipment that fits the design and your budget, with the reasons.

  5. 5

    Quotation

You receive a written quotation covering the equipment and the installation work. You decide whether to proceed.

  6. 6

    Installation

Equipment is mounted, wired and protected to the agreed design.

  7. 7

    Testing and commissioning

We test the system under load and check that it switches and charges as designed.

  8. 8

    Customer handover

We show you how the system works, what its limits are and what to do if something looks wrong.

  9. 9

    Maintenance and support

Technical support and maintenance are available after installation.

Frequently asked questions

What is an off-grid solar system?

An off-grid solar system is a standalone power system — solar panels, an inverter and batteries, and sometimes a backup generator — that supplies a property independently of the public electricity grid. Installing one does not mean building a power grid; it means designing and fitting a self-contained system for one property.

Is off-grid the same as a hybrid system?

No. A hybrid system works alongside the public grid and uses it as one of its power sources. An off-grid system does not depend on the grid at all, so the battery and solar array must be sized to carry your loads on their own, including through cloudy days and nights.

Who needs an off-grid system?

Properties with no grid connection, farms, workshops and remote sites, and homes or businesses whose grid supply is so unreliable that they want to stop depending on it.

How do you size an off-grid system?

We start from your appliance list and the hours you need power, calculate your daily energy use and peak load, then size the battery bank, solar array and inverter to meet it with a margin for poor weather. The more accurate your appliance list, the better the design.

Do I need a generator as well?

Not always. Some off-grid designs add a generator as a backup for long periods of poor sun. We will discuss whether it makes sense for your loads and budget during the assessment.

Where do you do off-grid installation?

Kinbu Power is based in Agbara, Lagos State. Send your address in the assessment form, whether you are in Lagos, Ogun State or elsewhere in Nigeria, and we will confirm whether we can cover it.
